Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I order?
Just click on "Contact the Baker" to initiate an email of your request. To get started, we’ll need to know what you have in mind, and for how many people.
- Do you ship your items?
Unfortunately, no. Currently we only offer items for pickup or delivery (for a small fee) in the San Diego area.
- How far in advance should I order?
The earlier the better. For basic items, a minimum of 48 hours notice is required. For larger or more complex orders, please give at least a week's notice.
- What if I need a dessert that comes in a container, like tiramisu, trifle, or pie?
If you have a container you would like to be used, we can accept it in advance and use it during preparation. If you need to be lent a container, your price will include a deposit on the value of the container, to be refunded once it is returned in good condition.
- Can you make my mom's/grandmother's/aunt's special recipe?
We are happy to refer to any legible, logical, comprehensible recipe, but reserve the right to revise if the recipe seems problematic.
- What ingredients do you use?
Do you offer substitutions for special diets?
Our items are made with all-natural ingredients such as cream, whole milk, dark chocolate, eggs and real butter. Most of our items are not, by nature, "light" or diet fare. In cases where items can be substituted without materially changing the recipe's outcome, we are glad to do so. At this time, we have a few vegan options, and hope to expand our selection in future.
- For how many people can you bake?
That depends on the item and how it needs to be stored. We try to make everything as fresh as possible, so we prefer, for example, not to make ahead and freeze items if that would compromise their quality. At present, we are able to produce for groups of up to 60 (with appropriate notice).
